Buyankhishig Unurbayar

Buyankhishig Unurbayar (Buyanaa) is a contemporary Mongolian artist, entrepreneur, and founder of Art of UB Gallery. Through painting and installation, she explores the relationship between humanity, nature, and the unseen energies that shape our inner lives.

Born and raised in Mongolia, she began painting at the age of three. Growing up surrounded by Mongolia’s vast landscapes and endless skies deeply influenced her artistic language. Inspired by the philosophy of Tengriism, her work reinterprets traditional spiritual ideas through contemporary abstraction using light, mist, movement, and organic forms.

Although art was her lifelong passion, her journey was unconventional. At seventeen she founded her first business and later built several successful companies before returning to art full-time. Motherhood further transformed her understanding of love, compassion, and resilience, becoming an essential emotional foundation of her artistic practice.

Her paintings and installations invite viewers into contemplative spaces where they can reconnect with themselves through nature. Rather than depicting landscapes, she paints emotional landscapes—places where stillness, hope, and inner strength emerge.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in the United States, Portugal, Italy, South Korea, Thailand, and Mongolia. Her paintings have been presented through Phillips Auctions Hong Kong and featured in Asia Art & Modern Aesthetics (AAMA).

Beyond her own artistic practice, she hopes to contribute to the international recognition of contemporary Mongolian art while inspiring women to believe that it is never too late to pursue their true calling.
